YOGA is becoming more mainstream and publications about yoga are showcasing the popular culture side of yoga, like Lady GaGa taking a yoga break on her tour and celebrity yoga mat carrying sightings.
Yoga is a reflection of our society so it really is no big surprise but is the message of yoga being watered down?
Here at Yoppii we were asked what our magazine is all about and stands for in an interview. What is our intention? It got us thinking…
- Yoppii is there to educate and inspire us. This might be a big order but is our foremost intention. We can do this by telling stories about people’s lives, interviewing yoga enthusiasts, teachers, leaders, and everyday yogis. We want to know how yoga has changed their lives (Yoppii 100)
- We will also dive into some of the philosophical aspects of yoga without too much heavy talk. We believe in keeping it simple and clear. We want to explain what yoga is, not just asanas.
- Yoppii also loves humour, there will be a ton of that. Tell us your favorite yoga joke?
- We are also not afraid of a little controversy. Judith Lasater says it best, “One of my goals in life is to learn how to be in conflict and still stay connected to the other person. Clarity and kindness.” There are always two sides to every story, sometimes more, we could have the different camps tell their story.
- We also believe in Ahimsa-non-harming, this extents to our planet we live on. Yoppii 1000 will showcase people, ideas, consumer products that you can use 1000 times.
Yoppii is the voice for all of us. We are not your mom’s yoga magazine, we believe in planting some seeds and some will grow. We want to inspire and connect a community, our Yoga Sangha.
